FAQ's

Hair Removal with our CoolGlide Laser

How does it work?
We use sophisticated light energy source for permanent hair reduction. The light is absorbed by the pigment in your hair, which effectively disables the hair follicle. The CoolGlide can remove hair from the face or body; for example, the arms, underarms, legs, backs, and even particularly sensitive areas like the upper lip.

How many treatments will I need?
Hair develops in phases and we can only treat the hair in its active, visible stage. Therefore, the number of treatments depends on how quickly the untreated hairs appear. For significant clearance, most patients require a course of four to six treatments, which are spaced about six to eight weeks apart.

Is it totally permanent?
Yes. The hair we treat with the CoolGlide will not grow back, and patients can expect an 85% reduction in hair after four to six treatments. As we age our hair patterns change, so this does not prevent the possibility of new hair growth over the years.

How is your treatment different from other clinics?
Our CoolGlide technology is considered the gold standard in the laser industry because of it's long history of safety and effectiveness on all skin types - even on tanned skin, which is a nice benefit to our patients in the summer months. We can treat not only coarse hair but fine hair as well. It is permanent, safe and effective.

How does it differ from electrolysis?
Electrolysis involves inserting a needle into individual hair follicles and delivering an electrical charge to them one at a time. Therefore, it can be costly, painful and time-consuming to do any more than a small area. Our technology, on the other hand, delivers light energy to hundreds of follicles at a time, which makes it ideal for treating large as wella s small areas.

How long does each treatment take?
It depends, of course, on the size of the area, but it typically takes 60 minutes to treat the upper and lower legs and 45 minutes for a man's back.

What does it feel like?
Patients will feel a series of short snaps, somewhat like a rubber band snapping, but no local anesthesia or pain medication is necessary. Sensitivity varies from person to person, and some people may opt for a topical numbing cream.

Do I need to grow the hair out before my treatment?
No. In fact, we ask that you shave beforehand since the treatment is targeting the hair follicle itself - not just the hair.

Is it safe?
The beauty of our CoolGlide technology is that it effectively destroys the hair itself without harming the surrounding skin. You may be a little red afterward, but that typically goes away in a matter of hours.  As with all medical procedures there is a slight degree of risk, and we will discuss this with you thoroughly when you come in for your consultation.

How much does it cost?
This depends totally on the size of the area and the number of treatments we estimate are needed to achieve clearance. If you'd like to make an appointment for a consultation, we can give you specific ideas as to the number of treatments and a price then.

Can anyone have it done?
No laser or light-based system can treat blonde, white, red or grey hair since there is no melanin in it to absorb the light, but with our CoolGlide system people with any other colour hair, any skin type, and even tanned skin can receive treatment.

Laser Genesis for Skin Rejuvenation

What does it do?
Laser Genesis does something completely unique in the skin rejuvenation area. It is proven to not only minimize fine lines but also to reduce large pores, uneven, crepe paper type or pebbled skin texture, and overall redness and flushing.

How does it work?
We use a cosmetic laser to gently heat the skin below the surface. This "healthy heat" stimulates the body's own natural healing response, and the texture of your skin literally becomes smoother. Depending on what you are having treated, pores get smaller, lines are decreased as your underlying collagen is refreshed, and the colour of your skin will even out. We will discuss this with you thoroughly when you come in for your consultation.

How many treatments will I need?
People and conditions will vary in the way they respond, based on their skin biology. Typically we recommend a series of four to six treatments to optimize results.

How long does each treatment take?
Each treatment session takes approximately 30 minutes.

What does it feel like?
Laser Genesis is very comfortable; it's sometimes called the warm laser facial. You will feel a warming sensation on your skin as the hand piece is slowly moved back and forth about a half-inch above your skin.

What can I expect afterwards?
You can return to your normal activities immediately. You may be flushed from the heat but that will disappear within a few hours of treatment. Individual treatment results are often subtle but the overall effect over time with multiple treatments can be quite dramatic.

Is it safe?
Yes; hundreds of thousands of Laser Genesis treatments have been done to date with no adverse effects. As with all medical procedures, there is a slight degree of risk, and we will discuss that with you thoroughly when you come in for your consultation.

How much does it cost?
If you'd like to make an appointment for a consultation, we can give you a specific idea as to the number of treatments and the price.

Can anyone have it done?
Yes. Adults of all ages and skin types can benefit from Laser Genesis and can have it done year round. We can even treat tanned skin.

What can I expect afterwards?
If you have specific spots treated, they will darken immediately and begin to flake off naturally within one to three weeks to reveal clearer skin. If you have general redness or fine veins treated, the blush will gradually lighten over three to five treatments.

Is it permanent?
Over time new spots may appear, as a result of new sun exposure and the ongoing aging process. These too can be removed.

Is it safe?
Yes, the LimeLight Facial is safe. As with all medical procedures there is a slight degree of risk, and we will discuss this with you thoroughly when you come in for your consultation.

How much does it cost?
This depends on the size of the area and the nature of what you're having treated. If you'd like to make an appointment for a consultation, we can give you a specific idea as to the number of treatments you will need and the price.
